The $1,000 scholarship (applied to OU tuition and fees) is given to an undergraduate accounting major who has exhibited an outstanding combination of academic performance and extracurricular activities

Applicants must:

• Be a Wayne, Oakland or Macomb county resident
• Be a declared accounting major and have achieved major standing
• Have completed ACC 310 at OU and have completed or currently enrolled in at least one Accounting major course at OU
• Have at least a 3.2 overall GPA in courses taken at OU
• Must have at least junior standing
• Must be public accounting oriented
• Must demonstrate involvement in university and/or community activities

How will the award decisions be made?
Selection of winner will be made by the Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarship and Awards Committee. Decision of the committee is final. 

What is the deadline for application?
Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Galloway, 438 Elliott Hall, by March 1, 2010.  The application may also be submitted electronically to shafer@oakland.edu.

When and where will I receive the award?
The scholarships/awards will be presented at the department's Spring Accounting & Finance Banquet (Friday, April 9, 2010, 6:00 pm, Oakland Center) and attendance at the banquet is required.

What can I use the award money for?
The award must be used for paying tuition and related fees for the future courses. If you are graduating but plan to enroll at OU for masters level courses, the award can be used to pay your graduate tuition. However, all eligible students are encouraged to apply.
