Innovation and Opportunity -- The Campaign for Oakland University
Goals for the Business School
April 22, 2005, President Russi publicly announced the university’s
first-ever comprehensive campaign. The campaign is a critical effort given our
consistent growth over the last ten years combined with several years of
diminishing state funds. Through partnerships, research and job placement,
Oakland and the School of Business Administration are key players in workforce
development. As a result, we are stepping up to the challenges created by a
global economy and a need for increased diversification and innovation by laying
out a strategy to continue our abilities to attract and retain a distinctive
faculty base, to adjust our curriculum for relevance and impact, to provide an
equally distinctive educational experience for our student base and further
develop our research partnerships with corporations and organizations.

Our ability to remain competitive requires investment. Private gift support
along with corporate and foundation support will fuel our abilities to remain
competitive and deliver a distinctive educational opportunity.
The School of Business Administration will use campaign funds for several key
initiatives:
- To create scholarships
- To create and sustain faculty quality with endowed chairs/professorships/fellowships
- To enhance existing academic programs
- To create learning and research centers
- To endow technology support
- To build facilities to accommodate our growth through 2010 and beyond
