Product Lifecycle Management
In partnership with CIBRE, the Product Life Cycle Management Institute (PLMI)
serves as an interdisciplinary institute for the development of international
research on and the dissemination and education of the use of the PLM concepts,
tools, processes and practices in the industry. Serving as a preeminent,
independent source in the development and use of PLM, the PLMI will fund applied
research and education in cooperation with the SBA’s CIBRE and other national
and international educational institutes.
With a focus on research areas that further the structure and understanding
of PLM, the PLMI will engage the best researchers throughout the world and build
relationships with top institutions. Proposed areas of interest include:
- Embedded Knowledge Management (EKM)
- Virtual teams and collaboration
- Product and process simulations
- Business justification and metrics of PLM
- Product Lifecycle Quality (PLQ)
- PLM strategic planning and assessment
- Systems engineering in PLM
- Product data organization, reliability and provenance
- Engineering, manufacturing and support information systems
