For many years, financial support from alumni and other stakeholders has played an important role in advancing the educational mission of the Department of Accounting and Finance. Such support has allowed the department to fund the high-quality activities that allow the department to provide the extras that prepare students for challenging and inspiring careers

Now, you have an opportunity to make a direct impact on the department’s continuing success by making a contribution to the Department of Accounting and Finance Gift Fund, the Professor Ronald M. Horwitz Outstanding Finance Student Award Fund, or a new fund that you are interested in starting.

A gift to the Department of Accounting and Finance Gift Fund will allow the department to continue to provide the extras that help attract top-notch students and faculty members, enhance academic programs, and provide funding for extra-curricular student activities. Some of the recent extras that have been supported by the gift fund are:

• Beta Alpha Psi, OASIS, and Financial Management student club activities
• Student attendance at professional accounting and finance meetings
• Computerized financial databases that are used in the classroom
• Faculty travel to academic conferences
• Cutting edge faculty research
• Seed capital for development of new courses and programs

A gift to the Professor Ronald M. Horwitz Outstanding Finance Student Award Fund will provide funding for the annual award given to the Oakland University undergraduate finance major with the best combination of academic performance and extracurricular activities
