It is the policy of the School of Business Administration that students must
have earned major standing in order to be eligible to take upper level core and
major courses (go to
Requirements for Business Administration Majors for the only exceptions). To
earn major standing, students need to complete the precore program and the university
writing requirement, earn a minimum grade of 2.0 in each precore course and RHT
160, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.60 at the end of the semester in which
they apply.
Students should apply for major standing in September if they plan to complete their
course and grade requirements in fall semester and in January if they will complete
requirements in winter, spring, or summer semester. Applications are available in
238 Elliott Hall or on the SBA website
here.
The major standing policy is strictly enforced.
If you have questions about eligibility for major standing and/or scheduling your
academic program appropriately, you should meet with an academic adviser in the
Undergraduate Leadership & Development Center which is located in 238 Elliott Hall.
Once major standing has been achieved, students are encouraged to consult with a
faculty member within their major area to discuss schedule planning within the major,
career tracking and other issues relevant to making academic decisions that will
enhance opportunities for success within a chosen field.
