Walk-In Advising
How walk-in advising can help you and its limitations . . .

During certain times of the year--early and late registration periods and the first two weeks of every semester--the number of students who request advising far exceeds the number of advising appointments available. To provide advising services to the largest number of students possible during these very busy times, the SBA Advising Office holds extended walk-in sessions during these periods.

Walk-in advising is meant to provide advising services to as many students as possible in as timely a manner as possible. If you attend a walk-in session you can expect to get help with the following:

Advising Appointments
Advising appointments, When is one needed?

If you have issues of a more complex and non-emergency nature, your advising needs would be best served by a scheduled 30 minute advising appointment. During an advising appointment you can expect to get help with the following:

  •   Developing long-range scheduling plans
  •   Determining how long it will take you to complete your degree
  •   Getting a graduation audit
  •   Discussing issues related to choosing a major
  •   Developing plans for dealing with academic problems related to earning major standing
  •   Changing your major from another academic unit into the business program
  •   Degree review and transfer course evaluation for prospective students
  •   In-depth discussion of transfer course issues
  •   Other complex "non-emergency" issues

Please visit the SBA Undergraduate Office or call (248) 370-3285 to set up an advising appointment if you would like to discuss any of the above.
