Discuss your plans for a minor with the Advising Office for your intended major.
Except for the Business Minor and Entrepreneurship Minor you must meet with the appropriate Minor Coordinator (listed on the information sheet) to discuss scheduling and to complete a Minor Authorization Form. This is necessary in order to get approval to enroll for SBA courses that are generally closed to non-business students.

Minor Information for Academic Year 2007-2008

All students who are not majors in the SBA, whether they have applied for a minor or not, are limited to a maximum of 25% of their total degree credits in business courses. (This restriction also applies to Economics majors who are either in the College of Arts & Sciences or the SBA.)

All economics (ECN) courses and QMM 240, QMM 241, QMM 250 and QMM 452 are excluded from this 25% calculation.
The maximum of 25% of total degree credits includes courses taken at Oakland University and all previous colleges.
Transfer students are required to take a minimum of 9 credits in the minor at Oakland University and at least 6 of these 9 credits must be in 300-level courses or higher.

A MINIMUM GRADE OF 2.0 IS REQUIRED FOR EACH COURSE
FOR THE MINOR AND IN ANY PRE-REQUISITES.

ACCOUNTING (Minimum of 20 crs.)

ACC 200, ACC 210, and twelve (12) additional ACC credits for which the student has the pre-requisites.

BUSINESS (Minimum of 19 credits)

Six of the following 7 choices: 1) ECN 150, or ECN 200, or ECN 201, or ECN 210. 2) ACC 200, or ACC 300. 3) MIS 301 4) FIN 300 5) MGT 300 6) POM 300 7) MKT 300.

Not open to business majors.

ECONOMICS (Minimum of 18 crs.)

Both ECN 200 and ECN 201 (or ECN 210), and twelve (12) additional credits in any 300-400 level ECN courses for which the student has the pre-requisites.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP (18 credits)

FINANCE (Minimum of 13 crs.)

FIN 322 and nine (9) additional credits in FIN courses and any prerequisites for these courses. Either ACC 301 or ECN 321 may be used to satisfy 3 credits toward the finance minor requirements.

GENERAL BUSINESS (Minimum of 19 crs.)

Both ECN 200 and ECN 201 (or ECN 210), ACC 200, ORG 330 *, and six to eight additional credits of 300- or 400-level SBA electives (ACC, FIN, MGT, MIS, MKT, ORG, POM, or QMM courses) for which the student has the prerequisites.
(ECN 300- or 400-level courses are not acceptable.)
Not open to business majors.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (Minimum of 18 crs.)

ORG 330*, ORG 331, ORG 434, and eight (8) additional credits chosen from: ORG 430, ORG 431, ORG 432, ORG 433, ORG 470, ORG 480 and the prerequisites for these courses.
* HRD 401 can be substituted for ORG 330.

INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT (Minimum of 16 crs.)

Both ECN 200 and ECN 201 (or ECN 210), ECN 373, MGT 423, and one of the following (and any prerequisites): ECN 326, ECN 374, FIN 419, MKT 450, ORG 470.
Proficiency in a foreign language is not required but highly recommended.

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (Min. of 18 crs.)

MIS 100 (or MIS 200 or CSE 125), MIS 300, MIS 305, MIS 314, MIS 315, and one elective in MIS and any prerequisites for each course.

MARKETING (Minimum of 20 crs.)

MKT 302, 353, 404, 405 and one course chosen from MKT 406, 420, 430, 470, or 480, and the prerequisites for these courses.

PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS MGT. (Minimum of 12 crs.)

POM 343 and two of the following: POM 442, POM 443, POM 448, POM 450, QMM 452 and any prerequisites for these courses.

QUANTITATIVE METHODS (Minimum of 27 crs.)

CSE 130, MTH 121, MTH 122, both QMM 240 and 241(or QMM 250 or STA 226), and three of the following: QMM 440 or QMM 452; POM 448, MIS446, ECN 405, STA 323 or STA 324 and any prerequisites for these courses.
Open to all majors.
