ECONOMICS

Economists study free markets, monopoly, inflation, unemployment, taxes, government spending, banking, money, credit, foreign trade, and international finance. Economists study how firms make decisions and use resources to pursue production or profit goals, and how prices and output are governed by market and non-market forces. Economists study how consumers make decisions. Economics combines mathematics, philosophy, and history. An undergraduate major in economics is ideal preparation for MBA courses at a graduate school of business, or for jobs in banking, health care, government, or private corporations. Starting salaries compare favorably with general business.
