We will miss her
Dr. Kate Tyler: The SBA family is
deeply saddened by the death of Prof. Kate Tyler. She died on August 19th, while scuba diving.

Faculty Accomplishments & Activities
Don Mayer: Academy of Legal Studies in Business (successor org. to the American Business Law Journal) awarded
"Ralph Hoeber Memorial Award" to Prof. Don Mayer for best article in the ABLJ.
The title of the article was "Corporations and Trustworthy Capitalism: Co-Creating a More Peaceful Planet."
Dr. Fuad Hasanov: Assistant Professor of Economics, has taken a leave of absence in the fall 2007 to join the
International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Economist Program in Washington, DC.
The work of an Economist at the IMF entails dealing with country specific, regional, and cross-country
macroeconomic and financial policy issues such as fiscal, monetary, balance-of-payments, debt, etc.
The job also involves missions, or business trips, to different countries for surveillance of economies,
meetings with country's government and industry officials, and economic policymaking advice.
Dr. Mohinder Parkash: Dr. Mohinder Parkash is recognized as the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Professor for the year 2007-2008 for
his leadership of the accounting and finance department.
Dr. Balaji Rajagopalan
- Working with Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman (Indiana) and Dr. Sue Brown (Arizona) in coordinating the International Case
Competition, sponsored by Computer Associates.
- Worked with Dr. V. Sambamurthy (Michigan State) to put together a proposal to bring AMCIS 2011 conference to Detroit.
- Interacting with Patni, India to develop short courses and executive education programs

Dr. Karl D. Gregory: A retired Oakland University business school distinguished professor,
has been selected by Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez to serve on the U.S. Census Bureau's Advisory Committee
on the African-American population.
